What to look for in the work shown here
The galleries below are grouped by finish rather than by project, so the same room may appear under more than one heading. Looking at them by finish is more useful when you are choosing a material, because it shows how one surface behaves across different rooms, light conditions and scales.
With hand-applied finishes, photographs carry only part of the information. Depth, sheen and movement in polished plaster change with the viewing angle and with the light in the room, which is why a finish that looks flat in an image can read quite differently on a wall in front of you. Where a finish matters to a decision, it is worth seeing a sample rather than an image.
Scale is the other thing images flatten. Veining, texture and panel proportions all read differently across a full elevation than they do in a close crop, and a motif sized for a small panel usually looks busy when it is taken across a whole wall.
The categories cover bathrooms, wet rooms, Venetian plaster, microcement, feature walls, gypsum art, decorative panelling and commercial interiors.
